Teaching & Coaching

David began vocal coaching in 2002, and has been teaching ever since. For 12 years he taught Vocal Coaching at the Academy of Music & Performing Arts (AMPA). At AMPA he was involved in creating and running group workshops with the school’s Contemporary Music and Music Theatre departments. David was also a member of the AMPA Academic Board of Studies 2010.

David was a long-standing mentor to the CaSPA program and worked regularly with years 11 and 12 in group and one on one sessions. David also regularly volunteers his time and expertise to the Blue Guitar Project, a charity that helps underprivileged youth with the opportunities to pursue their dreams in the music industry.

In 2018, David worked with actor Tilda Cobham-Hervy and director Unjoo Moon, coaching in breath management, speech and lip syncing for the biographical film of Helen Reddy’s life and career, I Am Woman, released on the 28th of August, 2020 on Stan.

David dedicates most of his time lecturing and supervising students at the Australian Institute of Music. He holds a M.Mus (AIM) – GDMus – GCMus (AIM), Dip Ed St (CoT, Lond), Cert Ed St Coes Theory (CoT, Lond), Cert Coes Practice (CoT, Lond), Cert IV Assessment and Workplace training, Estill voice workshops attendance level one and two, is a certified Buteyko instructor, and has attended Vipassana training.
