David is an unbelievable vocal coach with the magic to take anyone with performance anxiety and turn them into a confident performer in no time. He truly has a magic touch with his students. As an international student pursuing a master’s degree in music in Sydney, I was initially exposed to a lot of challenges and sources of stress. The performance and social anxiety that I had been coping with since childhood reappeared because of the big shift out of my comfort zone. The simple yet surprisingly effective methods we learnt in David’s Workshops not only began to improve my mental well-being but were also so easily accessible – Creating a routine has not only come in handy with regard to managing my performance anxiety and vocal health but has significantly improved my mental health and time management.

David’s breathing techniques helped my shallow breathing that I usually live with. It allowed me to avoid going to hospital: when the paramedics were testing me to take me in, I told them I knew how to fix my blood oxygen levels, and they asked me to show them. With the David’s techniques, I raised my oxygen levels from 90 to 96 in just a few breaths. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, David, for improving my sitting breath and keeping me out of hospital.

It was privilege to have David McLeod as our Guest Speaker for Stress and Anxiety. He gave the children wonderful tips and exercises in regard to their needs. David's knowledge in this field is absolutely amazing, not only in a practical point of view, but through a guaranteed scientific perspective. Now before each session, the Youth Group Leaders get the children to do diaphragmatic breathing exercises and this technique has benefited them greatly in school situations and other activities.

Running a busy retail store and managing a family has always been rewarding and demanding. In the 2nd Trimester of my music degree, I developed on-set vocal nodules and had to learn piano, a new instrument from scratch to continue my creative and career aspirations. For the first time in my life, performing and learning music made me nervous, anxious and it all became less enjoyable.

David, out of his own goodwill, reached out to me and demonstrated Buteyko breathing techniques, which acted as the first step to reducing my stage anxiety and a rehabilitation method for my initial injury. After being regularly taken through a program of Buteyko exercises my asthma was also greatly reduced and my concentration and ability to focus improved. I now sleep much better and wake with more energy.

David’s teaching and personality exude the same passion as his art and his music. His holistic approach and genuine care of students is something I will always be grateful for.

The experience of the Wolf Suite is tranquil on both the visceral and philosophical level. The vocal performance of the narrator is very relaxing, informative, and peaceful. The piano accompaniment is simply moving and beautiful. It’s very simple to be drawn into the parable of ‘the Two Wolves’ and to understand it’s message. 

As an experienced vocalist, public speaker, and practiced meditator, I can affirm that the guided exercises are both accessible and nerve calming - as scientifically and anecdotally promised! I struggle with sitting still at the best of times and battle with Dark Wolf of narrative and distraction often during meditation: this exercise put the big bad Wolf straight to bed! The artwork creates a memorable visualisation for use in the meditation. I recommend sitting in a sunlit room or space where you can experience the movement of clouds and light around you.

My secondary school special needs students have been focusing on social/emotional wellbeing at school this year for health. We found the Wolf Suite project added new dimension to the existing program. Students were able to understand and relate to the ‘Story of the two Wolves’. In class I often ask are you good wolfing or bad wolfing? I have a few ideas to take this further.

 The different tracks—the parable, the visualisation and meditation, and the instrumental—all had a positive impact on the class, making a great discussion point as well as it being a valuable practical tool. Thank you this is a great addition to our class resources.
